Dominics II in Boca Raton, FL

I have eaten at Dominics II in Boca Raton many times in the past. I've mentioned them here on Watch Me Eat in the past, but I've never discussed their pizza. Their other food is good, but Dominics' pizza is amazing...
I've never had a bad pizza here. This NY style pizza is consistently good. The crust is nice and thin. The sauce has a great flavor and the cheese is tasty. There's always a perfect proportion between the crust, cheese, and sauce, and right out of the oven, the pie stays together. There isn't any of the cheese pulling off of the slice or sauce dripping onto the plate like sometimes happens with other pizzas.
This is quite possibly the best pizza I've had in Florida. Definitely very near the top of my top-ten pizzas in the state. I have often heard the excuse that you can't get good NY style pizza in Florida due to differences in water, atmosphere, or a number of other reasons. Whenever I hear this, I think of a pizza like this pie from Dominics and know that this isn't the case...

Anthony's Pizza in Casselberry, FL

The last time I ate at Anthony's Pizza was way back when smoking was still allowed in Florida restaurants. I don't remember much about the food, just that the smoking/non-smoking sections did nothing in the small restaurant. The place smelled horribly like an ashtray and left me with no desire to return any time soon.

Fast forward to 2009. After receiving several email recommendations that Anthony's has the best pizza around, I decided to go back and give them another try. Anthony's had a wait when I walked in, so that was a good sign about having good food. The servers initially seemed really flustered by the amount of people in the restaurant, but overall, the service was okay. The half spinach, half meatball pizza that we ordered came out pretty quick. It was a really good pizza with a nice thin crust, a good sauce/cheese ratio, and it was pretty tasty. The sauce had a bit of a strange flavor that I couldn't quite place, but it was otherwise pretty good. I'd gladly get another pizza from Anthony's!

More King Umberto's in Elmont, NY

I've written about them before, but here once again is King Umberto's in Elmont, NY. They still hold my place as the best pizza I've tried. I don't have much else to say except to point out how nice looking their pizza is compared to most other pizzas. Look at the pictures and drool...King Umbertos

Chicken Pesto Sandwich from Valley Caterers

Valley Caterers
I ate a sandwich from Valley Caterers in Valley Stream, New York. Apparently they won some sort of Best of Long Island award in 2007 that they are very proud of. They had all sorts of food in their deli...
Valley Caterers Deli
And I ended up eating a Chicken Pesto Sandwich on a sesame egg roll. The sandwich consisted of chicken, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, and pesto. It was tasty, although I would have preferred more mozzarella and less chicken. The sandwich was good, but I don't know if I would go as far to say it was the best of Long Island...

King Umbertos Pizza

King Umbertos in Elmont, New York has the best pizza I have ever eaten. All other pizzas have to be compared to the pizza from King Umbertos.

When I ate here for dinner, I had a slice of stuffed vegetable pizza and a slice of plain cheese. Although the pizza selection was a bit thin when I ordered and the ovens needed cleaning (which happened as I was eating), King Umbertos still holds the #1 Pizza spot in my book. I will be back...
