Tabla in Oviedo, FL
I've eaten at the Tabla location near Universal, but today I tried their Oviedo location. I had their Homestyle Curry Chicken Lunch Special. Was served with rice, naan, somosa, and lemon coriander soup. It was all pretty good, with the highlight being the soup. That stuff was delicious. I enjoyed that they still did lunch specials without having a buffet.Apparently Tabla is a much bigger chain that I thought. I knew they had the local Orlando, Winter Park, and Oviedo locations, but they had a flyer on the table about franchises. Looking at their website, Tabla has locations across the country.

Kathi Rolls in Orlando, FL
On my last trip to New York, pre-pandemic, I came across a restaurant serving a type of Indian street food called kati rolls. I very much enjoyed these rolled up sandwiches and was unaware of any other restaurants serving this food. That is, until I stumbled on a restaurant called Kathi Rolls in Orlando. Different spelling of a very similar food item...I tried both the Chicken Tikka and the Lamb Tikka Kathi Rolls. Each was filled with the meat, onions, peppers, cilantro, and an added egg. Lots and lots of flavor in both rolls. Of the two, I think I preferred the chicken slightly more.
Kathi Rolls also has naan pizza on their menu which sounds interesting. I may have to try one of those on my next visit. I'm glad I found a restaurant serving a kathi rolls in Orlando so I don't need to take a trip to New York in order to eat one...

NY Food: Indian Restaurants (Deep Indian Kitchen, The Kati Roll Company, and Apna Masala)
Since nobody can travel right now due to COVID-19, let's go back in time a few months and visit New York to eat. My last visit to the New York was in December for a few days. The last post from New York had to do with the pizza I ate on the trip. This post is about the Indian restaurants I visited while there. I ended up eating a lot of Indian food on my short trip.
Deep Indian Kitchen:
This was an Indian fast food restaurant located right outside Times Square. With this restaurant, imagine a Chipotle, only serving Indian food instead. I ordered a meal called the Live Fire Feast which was a combo that included a main dish and several sides. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, saffron rice, chickpea dal, beet kachumbar, and garlic naan. I had blood orange lemonade as a beverage.
Apna Masala:
This was one Indian restaurant among many in the East Village. They had a nice dinner combination that came with tea, appetizers, a main course, and a dessert.

The Kati Roll Company:
This tiny restaurant served something called kati rolls. This Indian street food was something new to me and was similar to a wrap/burrito. There's apparently several locations of The Kati Roll Company in New York. This location was on MacDougal Street. I ordered the Unda Chicken Roll. This was chicken tikka and eggs wrapped in paratha bread. Not exactly knowing what I was getting into with a new food, I was very impressed. This little wrap was delicious.

Ghandi Cafe Inc in New York
While on a trip to New York, I ate Indian food for dinner at Ghandi Cafe Inc in Greenwich Village. This very narrow restaurant had a dinner for two special going on that included an appetizer, entree, dessert, and tea.
Sauces and crackers were served first. I'm not exactly sure what to call this thin, crunchy crackers. Papadum according to Wikipedia perhaps?
Somosas and fried onion balls were served next as the appetizers.
I had the Chicken Vindaloo as my entree. I was a little scared of the spice level of the vindaloo based on my past experience with the dish in the city. Luckily, this version of Chicken Vindaloo was spicy, but not intolerable. Rice was served on the side to absorb all that delicious vindaloo sauce.
Rice pudding and tea were served for the dessert.
I enjoyed my meal at Ghandi Cafe!
