Dexter's in Thornton Park

Dexter's
I ate at Dexter's in the Thornton Park neighborhood of Downtown Orlando. Apparently the building was one of the original Publix Supermarkets.

I had a Cajun Hoagie. It consisted of turkey, andouille sausage, lettuce, tomato, cheese, and a mayonnaise type sauce, all in between pressed French bread. Kettle chips were served on the side. It was good, although if I didn't have good teeth, I would have probably had problems eating the very crusty bread. I had always heard Dexter's had high prices, but with my sandwich costing $7, it really wasn't bad.

Pizza from a Publix Supermarket Deli

The Publix Supermarket in Lake Mary, FL has an experimental gourmet deli where they sell all sorts of ready made foods. Wikipedia briefly discusses this deli. One of the items that the deli sells that differs from the rest of the nearby Publix Supermarkets is freshly made pizza. The store has been open a while, and I have yet to eat any of the deli food with the exception of sushi, so I decided to try the pizza.
Pizza from Publix
A half cheese/half meatball pizza was ordered. I ate the cheese slices and was impressed for the most part. The only weird thing was with the basil on the pizza. It seemed they sprinkled a whole lot of basil over one slice of the pizza, and nowhere else. For a pizza coming from a supermarket though, the pie was pretty good. I have had much worse from nearby Italian restaurants that are supposed to have good pizza.

Publix Spicy Roll

Publix Spicy Roll
I ate a Spicy Roll from the Sushi department at Publix in Lake Mary, FL. The roll was pretty similiar to the Tsunami Roll, but was filled with krab instead of shrimp salad. I think this sauce was spicier than the sauce on the Tsunami roll as well.

Publix Cheesecake

Chocolate Covered Cheesecake
This is a chocolate covered cheesecake that came from the bakery in the Publix Supermarket in Lake Mary, FL (on Lake Mary Blvd). The cheesecake itself was good, but the chocolate covering wasn't that good. Since the cake was refrigerated, the chocolate got nice and hard. This didn't work too well since cutting the first slice of cake caused the hard chocolate to shatter on the whole cake. At the same time, the chocolate pieces pushed down into the cheesecake, squishing and crumbling the good part! It was tasty though.

Publix Stardust Combo

Publix Sushi Stardust Combo
I ate some sushi from Publix today. I had what they called a Stardust Combo. I can't think of how they came up with the name, but it was tasty. It consisted of Californa Rolls, Tsunami Rolls, Cucumber Rolls, and Tuna Rolls.

Knightstop Tsunami Roll

Knightstop Tsunami Roll
I had a Tsunami Roll from the Knightstop store in the UCF Student Union. I had no idea this place existed, and they had pretty good sushi too. It was the same Southern Tsunami brand sushi that is sold in certain Publix Supermarkets. The roll was filled with a shrimp/crab salad, tempura, cucumber, and was topped with scallions and some sort of sauce. I'd get it again...
