Terra Mia Pizza in Lake Mary, FL

I've been wanting to try the pizza from Terra Mia for a while now, but I had difficulties tasting their food for the longest time. I tried visiting the Terra Mia in Lake Mary on a few occasions and each time there was either a huge wait or the restaurant was closed for the day. On another attempt to try Terra Mia's pizza, I visited their Longwood location only to find out they don't serve pizza there. Finally, the Pizza Gods must have smiled on me. On a recent evening, I was in Lake Mary and Terra Mia was both open and without a wait, and top it off, their pizza was really good too!

My pizza was topped with anchovies and kalamata olives. The crust was some of the thinnest I've had in the area while still having a nice rise around the edges. Somebody did a very nice job with the dough here. The flavor of the anchovies and olives combined with the salty cheese was a little strong, but I liked it.

With the majority of the pizza in the area being mediocre, it's refreshing to find someplace like Terra Mia that has good pizza!

Weekend Trip: Greek Salad from Stop 20 Diner

Stop 20
I ate at Stop 20 Diner in Elmont, NY. I was with a very large group of people so that resulted in the service being a bit sub-par, but regardless, this eating experience was better than my last visit here.

The meal started out with a basket of really good challah and assorted crackers.
Stop 20
The plates of coleslaw and half sour pickles came out next.
Stop 20
For the main course, I ordered a Greek Salad. This was a good example of what I want in a Greek Salad, complete with stuffed grape leaves and anchovies. The only thing that was missing was kalamata olives. Besides from the olives, I had no complaints.
Stop 20
Stop 20 got it's name from the days when trolleys/streetcars ran along Hempstead Turnpike. The trains were eventually replaced by buses, but throughout the changes in transportation, stop 20 along these routes has been on the corner in front of the diner, hence the name...

Digino's Pizza

Digino's Pizza
Someone recommended that I give Digino's Pizza in Lake Mary, FL a try. I did and it was an okay pizza experience.
Digino's Pizza
When I first picked up the cheese pie, I didn't think it looked too attractive when I opened the box. It appeared that there was way too much cheese on the pie, with a small puddle of sauce showing through in the center. Looks can sometimes be deceiving though, because I was pleasantly surprised when I got home and tasted the pizza.
Digino's Pizza
The cheese and sauce were well proportioned, with just the right amount of each. My only two complaints was that I found the sauce to be a little too sweet, and the crust could have been a little bit thinner to get more like true New York Style Pizza as advertised in the restaurants window. Otherwise, it was an okay pizza. It was far from the best pizza I have eaten, but I have had many far worse pizzas as well.
Digino's Pizza
On my second slice, I decided to add some toppings that hardly anyone else will eat. I put about three cloves of fresh chopped garlic and almost half of a can of anchovies on the slice. I have discussed the my thoughts on anchovies in the past, and I will restate that they are one of the most unappreciated pizza toppings out there. The slice was stinky, but it was good!

Pizza from Dallis in Lake Mary, FL

I once again ate food from Dalli's in Lake Mary, FL. Today I had pizza.
Dallis Cheese Pizza
I took the cheese pizza home and opened up a can of anchovies and put them on the pizza. I really don't know why people are so opposed to these salty little fish. I think the majority of people have never actually tried anchovy topped pizza and are just going along with some strange American cultural opposition to anchovies. If people would actually taste the fish, I think they would have many more fans...
Dallis Cheese Pizza with Anchovies...
The pizza itself was okay. I found the crust to be way too thick and chewy in spots, but otherwise the pizza tasted decent. When I went to pick up the pizza, it seemed like the restaurant may have new owners, based on a completely new group of employees that I have never seen in there before. The pizza seemed pretty consistent with what it has been in the past, regardless of the new people cooking the food.

Silver Star Diner

Silver Star Diner
I ate lunch at the Silver Star Diner in Franklin Square, NY. It was in a cool building and I ordered a Greek Salad.
Silver Star Diner
Greek style diners in the New York/New Jersey area tend to have very good Greek Salads, but certain ingredients are required in order to meet my specifications for a good Greek Salad. They should be large salads. The dressing should not come from a bottle or be something creamy like Ranch. Anchovies should be on the salad. Stuffed grape leaves should also be there. The salad from Silver Star met all of the qualifications except for the grape leaves, which are technically the best part in my opinion.

So I wouldn't necessarily get a Greek Salad from the Silver Star Diner again...
